Parking restrictions back in force on Cheadle High Street

You might remember me reporting that one stretch of Cheadle High Street – immediately to the east of Massie Street on the southern side – didn’t have an enforceable parking restriction.

It seems that the pole and plate with the details of the parking rules had been removed some time ago, presumably as part of work on the pavement, and never replaced.

Despite it causing problems for traffic along the High Street, some people – one BMW owner in particular – were taking full advantage to park in the High Street pretty much all day, every day.

I’m glad to report that a new sign has been installed, so the parking restriction is back in force, and – when I’ve checked over the last few days, at least – the vehicles that were parking there have moved.

Thank you for getting some action on this real problem on our High Street. Hopefully there will be regular re-enforcement to ensure we have a long term solution to this problem.

Thank you for your efforts in getting parking restrictions back on the high street – I agree with the previous comment that the next step is to get regular enforcement to ensure that irresponsible parkers get the message!

Despite the parking restriction sign being up outside Turquoise now, the owner (yes it’s his BMW 4×4) is still parking there. At 5pm yesterday, with the traffic at its busiest on the high street, his car was there with his hazard lights on as he sat inside chatting away. This is not on….can’t he be given an official warning about this?
